The Homecoming of Heaven

What does it truly mean to come home? On this homecoming Sunday, we are drawn into one of the most breathtaking scenes in all of Scripture — the great heavenly celebration described in Revelation 19. Here, a vast multitude gathered from every generation and every nation lifts a single, thunderous cry: Hallelujah. That word, praise be to Yahweh, is not a casual expression. It is the overflow of hearts that finally, fully understand what it cost to bring them to that table. The central spiritual lesson is this: salvation is not earned; it is received. No one standing in that heavenly crowd will be there because they outworked their sin. They will be there because they accepted the invitation of a God who paid the debt they could never pay. This passage challenges us to examine how seriously we take that truth right now, today, in the way we worship, in the way we live, and in the urgency with which we share that invitation with those around us who have not yet responded.
